- William Galston of the Brookings Institution presented a detailed analysis of the Catholic vote in last month's Pennsylvania primary at "The Faith Angle" conference held in Key West, Florida.
- "Catholics have emerged in the course of this primary season as part of Clinton's base that she not only has to win but win with a strong majority," Galston said.
- He went on to say that 18% of Indiana's population is comprised of individuals who consider themselves Catholics.
- Catholic voters make up approximately 9% of North Carolina voters.
- Based on exit poll data in Pennsylvania Clinton received 72% of the white Catholic vote. Galston did not say what percent of the total Catholic vote she received including Hispanic, black and other groups of Catholics.
- A full transcript of Galston's remarks should be available on http://pewforum.org/docs/?DocID=217 soon.
