
- Janet Huckabee, age 53, is the wife of former Arkansas Governor and Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee.
- She and John met in high school and were married shortly after her high school graduation.
- Two years later when Janet was 20 she was diagnosed with spinal cancer and faced the prospect of being paralyzed. After surgery and radiation Janet recovered.
- She later attended Ouachita Baptist University and John Brown University.
- Janet was the Republican nominee for Arkansas Secretary of State in 2002, the same year Mike Huckabee ran for a second term as Governor. Mike Huckabee won his election however, Janet was defeated by the Democratic nominee.
- According to a Newsweek article Janet was nicknamed the "First Tomboy" during Mike Huckabee’s terms as governor. They reported that Janet tracked bears, hunted rattlesnakes, fired a grenade launcher, went skydiving and jet-skied down the entire Arkansas River.
- Most recently Janet was employed as the Program Manager for State Emergency Management Relations with the Arkansas Red Cross. She is also a board member with Habitat for Humanity.
