Will Senator's Clinton, Obama and McCain Overcome the "Senate Curse"?

  • In our country's history only two Senators have gone directly from the Senate to become President, John F. Kennedy and Warren G. Harding.
  • Fourteen Senators have gone on to be elected President after serving in other roles, many serving as Vice Presidents.
  • A total of 47 Senators have made a bid for the presidency and lost their campaigns, the most recent being Senator John Kerry.
  • Odds are good that this election cycle the Senate Curse will be broken unless Mitt Romney, Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee can gain ground on Super Tuesday.
