Clinton Campaign Requests Delay in Texas Delegate Conventions

  • On March 14th the Clinton campaign sent a letter to Boyd Richie Chairman of the Texas Democratic Party requesting a delay in the county and senate conventions scheduled for March 29, 2008.
  • According to the Dallas Morning News the conventions are "where details of how 67 delegates picked in the county caucuses will be announced."
  • CNN reported on March 11, 2008 that while Hillary Clinton won the Texas primary Barack Obama won the Texas caucus.
  • In the primary Clinton received 65 delegates to Obama's 61 and in the caucus Obama received 38 delegates to Clinton's 29.
  • The net effect is that Obama won a total of 99 delegates in Texas to Clinton's 94.
