- On March 17, 2008 the Florida Democratic Party issued a statement on the status of the primary.
- The statement went over the various proposals that had been rejected to have a Florida re-vote/caucus, etc.
- The Florida Democrats said it was decided not to pursue any further proposals based on "input" received that led them to the conclusion that "Florida doesn't want to vote again. So we won't." The source of the "input" is not specified so it is unclear if this was input from Florida voters, State or National Democratic Party Leaders or even the candidates.
- They also said that the case to seat the delegates had been presented to the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee, but was denied and "that a solution will have to come from the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee, which is scheduled to meet again in April."
- A portion of the Florida Democratic Party's statement is misleading when it says "When this committee (DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee) stripped us of 100% of our delegates last year (2007), some members summed up their reasoning by saying, "The rules are the rules." Unfortunately, the rules did not apply to Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina when they, too, violated the DNC calendar by moving from their assigned dates." The 2008 primary/caucus schedule and the delegate selection rules were issued in 2006.
