- In a McCain Campaign press release today, John McCain 2008 spokesman Tucker Bounds issued this statement on Barack Obama's March 27, 2008 speech on the economy:
"No amount of rhetoric can hide Senator Obama's clear record of
embracing the liberal tax and spend, big government policies that hit hardworking American families at a time when they're most vulnerable, and are certain to move America backward."This election provides a clear choice. John McCain offers a common sense agenda to cut taxes, eliminate wasteful government spending, and get our economy back on track, while Senator Obama embraces the failed liberal policies of the past that lock down the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit that has always grown our economy, created jobs and expanded opportunity for the American people."
- The release goes on to outline "OBAMANOMICS: BARACK OBAMA'S LIBERAL TAX & SPEND, BIG GOVERNMENT AGENDA".

The McCain campaign did not address Hillary Clinton's economic agenda. They also were not the first or only to use the term "Obamanomics". It was also used in the following: - Wall Street Journal Obamanomics: Target Big Oil, Too
- Pajamas Media Obamanomics: Hope Has a Plan
- Hot Air Obamanomics: The economics of fear

It's pretty ironic to hear a Republican talk about "liberal tax and spend, big government". We've had Republican administrations for all but 8 of the last 27 years. During this time we've kept hearing about the economic benefits of cutting taxes, but we've ended up with the biggest deficits (and foreign debt) in our history. In fact, it was only during that 8 years of a "Democratic" administration (I'd call it more like "Republican light"), that we managed to balance the budget. Maybe we should start talking about the "spend and borrow" Republicans. How much do we owe now to the Chinese to fund our tax cuts during a war? This is fiscal responsibility???!!!
