The Clinton Campaign's request to delay the County and State Senate conventions to select delegates in Texas was denied.
The campaign wanted the conventions delayed to allow time for signatures of March 4th caucus goers to be verified.
Although Hillary Clinton won the primary, Barack Obama is reported to have won the caucus in Texas.
The net effect is that Obama won a total of 99 delegates in Texas to Clinton's 94.

On March 14th the Clinton campaign sent a letter to Boyd Richie Chairman of the Texas Democratic Party requesting a delay in the county and senate conventions scheduled for March 29, 2008.
According to the Dallas Morning News the conventions are "where details of how 67 delegates picked in the county caucuses will be announced."
CNN reported on March 11, 2008 that while Hillary Clinton won the Texas primary Barack Obama won the Texas caucus.
In the primary Clinton received 65 delegates to Obama's 61 and in the caucus Obama received 38 delegates to Clinton's 29.
The net effect is that Obama won a total of 99 delegates in Texas to Clinton's 94.

With 86% to 100% of precincts reporting results for the March 4th primaries in Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas and Vermont the total votes cast equaled 7,891,584. This figure is exclusive of the Texas Democratic Caucus results which are still being tabulated.
Overall, Hillary Clinton received 2,710,332 of the votes to Barack Obama's 2,487,028, John McCain's 1,382,609, Mike Huckabee's 855,658, Ron Paul's 122,659, and Alan Keyes's 8,685.
The remaining 218,935 votes were cast for Edwards, Richardson, Biden, Dodd, Kucinich, Romney, Thompson, Cort, Hunter, Guiliani, Tran, "Uncommitted" and "Other".

In today's Texas primary, Ron Paul is running in the Republican Presidential primary and in the District 14 race for Congress.

A poll conducted by Public Policy Polling and released last Thursday showed Ron Paul leading in the Congressional race with 63% of the vote.

Real Clear Politics's polls show Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama each leading in two of the four states headed into the March 4th primaries.

On the Republican side Real Clear Politics's polls show John McCain leading Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul in Texas, Ohio and Vermont. Polling data was not posted for Rhode Island.

McCain leads the polls in Ohio with 55% to Mike Huckabee's 32.8% and Ron Paul's 7%.

Lastly, in Vermont the polls show McCain leading 68% to Huckabee's 17% and Paul's 5%.

"Several top Clinton strategists and fundraisers became alarmed after learning of the state's unusual provisions during a closed-door strategy meeting this month,"

"Clinton could win an overwhelming majority of votes but gain only a small edge in delegates. At the same time, a win in the more urban districts in Dallas and Houston -- where Sen. Barack Obama expects to receive significant support -- could yield three or four times as many delegates. "

"Under rules described in the 37-page Texas delegate selection plan, two-thirds of the state's 228 delegates will be chosen based on the vote in each of 31 state Senate districts. The remaining delegates will be chosen based in part on the outcome of caucuses held on election night after the polls close."
