- The February 29, 2008 FEC filings show that of the three mainstream Presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton's campaign had $8.7 million in debt/unpaid invoices to Barack Obama's $625,000 and John McCain's $4.3 million.
- The following is a partial list of past due bills reported by Clinton's campaign:
$3,161 to Clinton's Alma Mater Maine South High School in Park Ridge for renting the school's Watson Auditorium and catering for an election eve event prior to Super Tuesday. The event was a “town hall meeting,” broadcast on the Hallmark Channel.
$2,000 in rental fees for the McConnell Center in Dover. The campaign was sent the original bill for rental of the entire building, including several conference rooms, the gym and the cafeteria on January 18, 2008. Not only is the bill now more than 40 days past due, it has been accruing interest since it because 30 days past due.
$292,000 in unpaid health insurance premiums due to Aetna Healthcare and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. According to campaign spokesman, Jay Carson the March FEC reports will show “zero debt owed to both vendors.”. According to the FEC filings the bills were at least two months old. In comparison, McCain did not report any unpaid bills to insurance providers at the end of February and Barack Obama reported $908 due to AIG American International Group for “insurance.”
$25,000+ due to two Ohio companies that staged campaign events. An employee of one of the companies told the Politico, "Senator Clinton talks about helping working families... but when it comes down to actually doing something that shows that she can back up her words with action, she fails."
$3,598 to Hudson Yards Catering and $8,441 to a production company both in New York. Additionally, the New York Times reports that Clinton owed money to about a dozen outfits - even though the campaign moved away from the Empire State after its Feb. 5 primary.
$9,542.80 due to Southern New Hampshire University Athletic Department
$10,000.00 due to San Diego State University
- Any business owner, CFO, accountant, etc. knows that no matter the size or complexity of your organization the Chief Executive is responsible for driving cash management. Clinton's inability to either directly manage, or hire qualified personnel who can, are indicative of her inability to lead and hold high level staffers to any degree of accountability.
